Posted on June 6, 2011 by Raven

Music crafted during the early days of home consoles was and still is a major challenge. A few have managed to reach celebrity status for their compositions, and Koji Kondo is one of the most renowned because of his talent. People around the world know him for his work on Zelda and Mario games. He was something of an audio pioneer on the NES. A good place to start for anyone interested in programming chiptunes.

Which is the Dominant Race, Anyway?
Posted on May 21, 2011 by Macbook5
Macbook5

Hello all, Macbook5 here. Welcome to my first official article as a Zelda Eternity writer! I know I’m about six months overdue with this, but hey, at least you got it before year’s end. So, here we go!

Gerudo. Deku. Hylian. Who are these people? Trick question; they aren’t people; they’re a few of the different races of Hyrule. Now, in our world, mankind is the undisputed ruling race of the Earth, but that’s only because we’re the only self-aware beings. Now in Hyrule, there are several self-aware races, and humans don’t exist in any large population (one of the only known civilizations is Ordon Village) so which species is the dominant in their universe? Things change over time, different races gain and lose abilities, and some disappear completely, and so this article will deal with those existing at the time of Ocarina of Time. Read on, read onners.

Which is the greatest?

Game & Watch Model No.: ZL-65
Posted on May 17, 2011 by Raven

Play Zelda Game and Watch on the internet! This is a novelty nobody should pass up, LCD based portable games were, at one point being licensed by Nintendo. In 1989 a Zelda LCD was available to buy and if you happen to have this particular handheld then treasure it, because few can say they have had any prior hands on time with the game. Now we have browser based gaming which can easily support these old LCD trinkets. The problem is in getting the rights to put these old games up on a site, and even then there are still many challenges to tackle.

How will it be emulated, what should the controls be? How do we represent these LCD games properly? If your going to put a Nintendo game onto your site chances are your going to have to make the game perfectly true to the original. Somehow the genius behind pica-pic.com has gotten everything cleared so that the game can be played and runs flawlessly on the sites browser.

You Might Be a Zelda Hipster
Posted on May 15, 2011 by SpaghettiWeegee

“When it comes to Zelda, everyone knows that Majora’s Mask is the best entry in the series. Ocarina of Time is too mainstream to take that title.”

“Rare Zeldas are highly under-appreciated in my opinion. Some are even better than the main-series entries. You can’t refute this because you’ve never played any Rare Zeldas.”

“My favorite race would have to be the Subrosians. They’re really underground, though. You’ve probably never heard of them.”

Do you have thoughts like this running through your head on a regular basis? Is your knee-jerk reaction to popular opinion to disagree with it? Are you now adjusting your horn-rimmed glasses while eating organic vegetables and listening to a collection of “Deer Tick’s Greatest Hits”? If you answered yes to any of these questions, you might want to seek psychiatric help, because you have a violent, self-destructive mental condition that requires immediate attention. Yes, you just might belong to the distinguished social group known to all as “hipsters”.

A Leveling System?
Posted on April 27, 2011 by Raven

Basic reading ability is needed to fully enjoy this game. Article.
No I’m not being snarky, that’s what it says on the back of some RPG game boxes. Pokemon, Golden Sun.

This is a well known concept that many RPG fans must have. It can turn an action game into a more tactical experience, or if online is involved that hack-n-slash beat em up you wouldn’t normally play, put some stats in there, and your game somehow evolved into an MMO. Leveling systems make a difference in how you think about a game and it requires a certain amount of consideration, eventually during gameplay you will begin to notice the results of leveling. Adventure of Link clearly had a leveling system, and for that reason alone I’m going to talk about that aspect of role playing games.

Zelda Like It’s 1998

Remember a long time ago? Of course you don’t. Give it awhile, it’ll come back. That’s it, just breath. It’ OK it was only a time warp, you see Nintendo has sent us to the past with two re-releases. One is more of a port with optional 3D enhancements, and the other is something like a remastered version of the first 64 game.

I meant Link’s Awakening DX and Ocarina of Time. To this day both of them have held up quite well, standing up to the rigors we’ve put those carts through. Granted those cartridges are starting to see a bit of wear and tear, unless your the collector type. As a way to remedy this Nintendo has ported Ocarina of Time onto the Gamecube and then to the Wii Virtual Console. Now, in a stroke of inspiration they have decided to revisit this game and bring it into the modern day, with updated graphics and all new controls on the 3DS. Effectively creating an adventure for both gamers who are green to the series and veterans, since this is more like the OoT Master Quest version from 2003. Which included the original game (from 1998) as well as an alternate game with redesigned puzzles and harder enemies.

The Zelda 25th Anniversary?

The Zelda 25th anniversary was in February, right? Well, like I’ve told you before in a news post, Miyamoto is apparently planning a way for everybody to “celebrate together”. A guy over at Zelda Informer has thought of this, and so have I.

The Oracles (Part 3)
Posted on February 23, 2011 by Raven

There really is no need to explain this article, the least I can do is cut that out. Instead I’ll just talk about the intro in Oracle of Seasons. It opens up with Link sleeping, though it’s strange, in this version the Triforce literally knocks Link out cold before sending him to Holodrum. Did the Triforce place Link in Din’s path? Probably, you see there is a deeper connection between the Rod, the Temple and the Oracle of Seasons. Each is an extension of the Goddess Din and in turn a part of the Triforce. That extension of the Goddess was the enemies target, how devious.

Hey, ZE Readers! Happy Commercialized Romance/Bitter Single People day. Are you on our forums? Heh heh heh… Heh heh heh heh heh… You may ask yourself “Oh god, why is he laughing like that? It’s freaking me out.” Well, good, it should. Why? Because, unbeknown to you, once you’re on our forums, you’re immediately considered for a relationship with another one of our forum/staff members by the more sexually-repressed end of the Content Writers on-hand (myself included). I figured now is as good a time as any to come out and tell you guys just who we’ve been paring you with. Joining me to help do this is the only other Content Writer on staff that doesn’t hate Valentine’s Day. Say hello to Skalla!

Skalla: “Hey, everyone. I’ll have you know that I have extensive research credentials in this field of study. Every word out of my mouth (fingers?) can be backed up with solid evidence. And remember that forum shipping is serious. effing. business.”

So, I hope you’re ready for things to get awkward all up in here, because whenever we ship two people together, gender, status, and sexuality don’t play a role. That’s right, no one is safe. So, sit back, relax, and prepare yourself for an onslaught of sexual tension between our forum members!

I can’t believe it, I’ve been working here for a year. Slowly and steadily I’ve been honing my skills, and it’s all thanks to Zelda Eternity, and in particular our Webmaster Mike. I still have a long way to go, so consider this your re-subscription. I’ll be working harder this year to bring you more interesting and informative articles, now that the silence that was Nintendo is starting to end. Expect to see two articles a month, I was able to do it last month for January so I’m busting my butt off trying to replicate last months feat. In February’s first, I’ll be talking about some secret stuff! Click read more if your interested.
