SpaghettiWeegee

Hello, Zelda Eternity community. If you’re a fan of retro video game enthusiasts with serious anger management issues, you’re probably familiar with the internet celebrity James Rolfe, the Angry Video Game Nerd. In a recent interview with VGA (Video Game Auctions), Mr. Rolfe discusses his favorite entry to the Zelda series. Says Rolfe:

My favorite is Link to the Past. It was innovative for its time. The story is great. Loved the music. Everything. Just messing around is fun. Throwing bushes, breaking into people’s homes and destroying all their pottery, tossing chickens, dashing into walls. Good stuff.

There you have it from the man himself! Do you agree? Chime in on James’s response in the comments below!

One of our close affiliates, Nintendo Castle, is hosting a Mario Marathon right now in celebration of their one year anniversary. In it, they initially will be playing Super Paper Mario, New Super Mario Bros. Wii, and Super Mario Sunshine (in that order), with the high possibility of extra games such as Super Mario Galaxy 2. Plus, in-between games they’ll be playing Mario Kart Wii online, meaning you can join in on the fun too.

It’ll go until about Sunday, so come join us at the stream and support our friends over at Nintendo Castle!

Anyway, it’s Valentine’s Day today, and considering how Zelda is a series that’s spawned a lot of heart related sight-gag jokes, we’re getting truckloads in today! Well, not “we”, the staff of ZE, we’re lonely single folks here, but “we” as the Zelda community, you bet your Adventure Pouch we are! After picking through a good number of cards, greetings, and quasi-witty one-liners, we’ve found only the best of the best to report on to our fans. One of my favorites from today comes from the webcomic Brawl in the Family. Hit the “read more” button to see it.

Skyward Sword Beats Ocarina of Time in IGN’s “Versus”
Posted on January 7, 2012 by SpaghettiWeegee
SpaghettiWeegee

Hello, Zelda fans! As you may know, there has been significant debate in the Zelda community about whether or not the Zelda series’ masterwork Ocarina of Time will ever be surpassed as the greatest Zelda game ever made. Many traditionalists will argue against it, but it’s been suggested by more than one person that Ocarina of Time was surpassed, by none other than the newest entry to the series, Skyward Sword. To settle this debate, IGN held a poll, a contest split up into four categories, to see which game was better by analyzing each of them. The categories to be voted on were Controls, Bosses, Gear, and Story, comparing each game’s offerings in each category to each other, and allowing the viewers to pick which game they felt was superior in that respective category.

So what do you think, folks? What do you think the fans decided on? Could Skyward Sword ever take down the Zelda series giant, Ocarina of Time? Could any game ever surpass the entry widely accepted as the series’ magnum opus?

The answer, according to IGN’s fans, is “yes”.

You can view the results below! Click “read more” to check it out.

Akira_98

Update: Following A Link to the Past, Skyward Sword will be done, as well as The Legend of Zelda, Adventure of Link, and Ocarina of Time. Don’t forget, you can also watch the stream here and chat.

The guys over at 4/48 are getting ready to host their 4th Zelda marathon for Child’s Play Charity. Those donating will extend the length of the marathon, and be entered into a raffle for Zelda-themed prizes, just as a small incentive to donate (wink wink). Starting on December 17th, at 10 AM (EST), they’ll open with Wind Waker, and play through seven other games, one of which is the recently released Skyward Sword, so don’t miss it! The stream will be at their homepage, and you can find other details on the marathon there as well, including game line-up and charity information.

Hope to see you there!
