That’s right, in honor of the 25th anniversary Nintendo is holding a flipnote contest until September 9th. Each DSi and DSi XL owner will be allowed to enter one flipnote animation from the DSi exclusive Flipnote Studio. You can also use the paper form to enter. Mr Takashi Tezuka, Mr Eiji Aonuma, Mr Yoshiaki Koizumi and Mr Shigeru Miyamoto will be judging and will choose the winner. The winning flipnote will be published on the Nintendo website located at zelda.nintendo.com, Flipnote Hatena, and Nintendo Channel. Winning flipnotes will be published around October 14, 2011.
For even more details about entering, click this LINK (It’s been a while since I did that).
That’s right! If you own a 3DS you will get 10 NES and 10 Gameboy Advance Virtual Console games thru the eShop. This is all thanks to the recent announcement that the 3DS will drop in price to $169.99. If you buy the 3DS before the price drop and connect to the eShop at least once before August 12th then the free games are yours. The free games are not available to those who buy the 3DS after the price cut. Some of the games include The Legend of Zelda, Super Mario Bros, Yoshi’s Island and many more. Read more…
Industry Gamers interviewed Aonuma a little while back, and he brings light to certain things. One thing, which we have heard before, is that when a Wii U Zelda title comes out it’s not guaranteed to be in the same style as the tech demo at E3. Also it takes about 3 years, according to Aonuma, to make a Zelda game so releasing a new game at the same time as a new console is a matter of pure coincidence. He also wants to make Zelda games more quickly, which all Zelda fans would love. Aonuma talks about how Miyamoto likes to come in, throw stuff out, and cause lots of chaos but says it’s also helpful. It helps with feedback and solving problems. He also mentions that Skyward Sword could possibly be the last Wii title from Nintendo but he can’t say for sure. Nintendo also wants to be unique with how it takes on online gaming and have not done much with it because it would not be very unique compared to what other people are doing. They want it to be a natural extension of the game, something unique. To read the full interview, click on the source below and let us know what you think in our comments section! Source
If you live in America and own a 3DS and have a Netflix subscription then you are in luck. Tomorrow Netflix hits the eShop, allowing people to watch unlimited 2D video anywhere they have a wifi connection. It slightly makes up for the delay in the Nintendo Video application in the US (Europe already has the Video application). Tell us what you think below! P.S. That metroid marathon is still going on, it’s a blast.
Ok, this is tons of stuff to cover, but first I’d like to share this video from the E3 conference with exlusive new content from Skyward Sword and Ocarina of Time! Not only this, but we’ve got Four Sword coming up, Link’s Awakening and a mysterious new video of Link and Gohma in stunning graphics for the new console! Start reading folks! An orchestra performed Zelda music as well, you can see the whole thing below, and you can see the full SS trailer below THAT.
Zelda’s 25th anniversary: The whole conference started with an orchestra playing Zelda music and showing off Zelda footage at the screen. A lot from Ocarina of Time 3D was shown as well as some from Skyward Sword, showing Link and a girl flying on birds! Skyward Sword will be released sometime during this holiday season for the Wii, it’ll have a special golden Wii controller available with it, and that’s all we got plus the footage that can be seen in the video.
Link’s awakening is now available for the Nintendo EShop in full 3D, and that’s not all, but Four Swords will also be available on the DSi for FREE this September. We don’t know if it’s going to be online yet or not, but just that it’s free is pretty awesome!
An orchestra will travel around in each region this year as well and perform Zelda symphony concerts. A CD for this will be released in conjunction with Skyward Sword as well. Miyamoto also mentioned the soundtrack for OoT 3D being released.
After all of this, tons of 3DS games was shown off, including Luigi’s Mansion 2, Mario Kart, Star Fox, Mario Bros. 3D and Kid Icarus (which will have multiplayer!). After this, the new Nintendo console WiiU was shown off. With this console, you can use your controller to play on the TV, with the TV, or completely independant of the TV as it has its own screen! It has gyroscope, accelerator, a number of buttons and a big touch screen. Nintendo is allowing a lot of third party developers like EA to make games for this at the moment. However, Nintendo showed off a video of Link and Gohma in something that resembled the Temple of Time in stunning Twilight Princess-like graphics! Could this just be a video for showing off new graphics or a hint for a new Zelda game? We’ll have to wait and see, keep following ZE for the latest Zelda news!
Update: Luna here. The video of Link fighting against Gohma was only a demo of what the Wii U is capable of, not a new game. Sorry guys.
We’re in the final 6 hours guys, once again, you can watch the E3 conference here at the official Nintendo website for E3. I can’t wait to see what Nintendo will do this year and what their new console is about! So close now….
Apparently the group called “Lulz” that hacked Sony has tried hacking Nintendo’s website. I guess that’s one good reason for the Wii not to have its own network like the PS3 (that got hacked), so the hackers had to take Nintendo’s site instead. According to the group, they were successful, but even if that’s true, the information they can get from a Nintendo website must be limited, so I wouldn’t be overly worried. However, I am wondering if it will be possible for them to hack Project Cafe. Even though we don’t know much about the console yet, do you think it’s possible?
UPDATE: Like many people thought, the Sony Hacker group did manage to hack the site, but no personal info was stolen.
Firstly, I’d like to thank everybody who’s liking us on FB, because we just reached 400 fans! Being a site that’s only two and a half years old, I think that’s pretty good.
Secondly, there’s been a LOT of news about OoT 3D lately, and you could say we’ve reached the point where we get less rumors and more facts. Several sites including Zelda Dungeon, Zelda Universe and Legend Zelda has already gotten their own copy of the game, so you can check out videos about it on both sites if you’re interested. There’s been tons of news recently about this game, but mainly about new trailers or pre-order bonuses in different regions. Make sure to check out that where you live, and you might get yourself a cool gift.
Thirdly and lastly, I wanted to post an official Nintendo site where you can watch the E3 stream that starts Noon Eastern time (11 am CST, 5 pm GMT, etc.) on the 7th of June, which is only days away. The highlights of Nintendo’s conference are probably going to be their new console, 3DS games and hopefully Skyward Sword and Zelda’s 25th anniversary. What do you guys think will happen? Will SS be another Twilight Princess and be delayed or ported? Will we get some collection for the Zelda anniversary?
IGN has posted their predictions on what is going to happen at E3 this year (which, in case you forgot, Nintendo will be doing their thing on June 7th at 12 pm EDT). They are on the fence about whether or not Skyward Sword will become one of the release titles for Project Cafe.
“Nintendo’s got a tough decision to make with Skyward Sword. On one hand the company has set this precedent before, when Twilight Princess was shifted from the GameCube to be a Wii launch title. On the other hand, we won’t see the new Nintendo system till 2012, which means the Wii is looking at a pretty barren release schedule this fall if Skyward Sword gets taken out of the mix. This one could definitely go either way.” IGN
On May 14th we reported that, thanks to an interview with Nintendo marketing manager Rob Lowe, Skyward Sword will definitely be released this year for the Wii. It could still be released for Project Cafe next year, but the chances are extremely slim. Personally, I’m glad that Skyward Sword isn’t going to be pushed back like Twilight Princess was for the Wii.
A recent interview with Nintendo confirms that Skyward Sword will be released in 2011 and not in 2012. So sigh in relief guys, because they are not going to wait to release it with the new console like they did with Twilight Princess. They are not going to make us wait even longer for Skyward Sword, yay! (Maybe they will even give us another trailer for Skyward Sword at E3 and even an official release date!)
