The Super Smash Bros. Brawl Fansite Tournament!

Wow, it’s already November, and it’s going to be quite a month! We’ve got Skyward Sword coming up in a matter of weeks, as well as Zelda Eternity’s third birthday. Plus, I’m sure many of you gamers are excited for all sorts of other games that are releasing this month. Now, I’m sure you’re wondering what this current announcement is all about, so let me go ahead and explain..

Zelda Eternity, LegendZelda.net, Metroid Headquarters, and Shinesparkers.net are all participating in what we’ve dubbed as a “Fansite crossover tournament”. Basically, these four sites will first hold individual preliminary tournaments online with Super Smash Brothers Brawl, and the winner from each site will enter in a final round against each other. The final winner will receive a grand prize of either the Skyward Sword Bundle or Metroid Prime Trilogy, whichever they want (only one can be chosen). Each website will organize their own preliminary tournaments in their community first, and must have them complete by November 28th.

Now, you may be wondering how in the world we’re going to organize all this. It’s simple, really. Hit the jump to read on the details and rules.

Guess Who’s Back?

Back again– just kidding. Anyway, you probably noticed that ZE was down all day yesterday. Well, maybe you didn’t. I sure hope you did. The reason we were down was nothing big, it’s just a certain payment wasn’t made is all. Point is, we’re back and hopefully this issue will not return in the future.

In other news, Joystiq posted a great preview on Skyward Sword. The demo went up to the second dungeon, and there was quite of information written up from this demo. The preview discusses quite some interesting things, including the new Dowsing ability which “allows Link to scan the environment for quest-specific items with his sword in first-person view”. This is done through Fi, and of course this feature has never appeared in a Zelda game before.

Another interesting thing to note was an issue brought up where at the second dungeon, there are tight-rope sequences that are encountered constantly, and you have to balance Link with the MotionPlus. The author of this preview states that “I found myself concerned about the reliance of MotionPlus for things that could be accomplished more easily and accurately with the Nunchuk’s analog stick.”

Every game has their flaws, but I’m sure the positives will of course outnumber the negatives. It’s only a matter of time until November, then we can experience Nintendo’s biggest project game-wise for ourselves and truly judge the game.

For now, you can watch the Skyward Sword Opening Trailer after the jump with the official English translation. Or maybe, check out our brand new staff page with all the new staff.

Good day. ^_^

Happy Friday, Zelda Eternity readers! Today, I bring you exciting news. No, not hot Zelda on Midna cosplayer action, I’m talking about Game Informer’s celebration of The Legend of Zelda’s 25th Anniversary! What could this gaming magazine possibly have in store for us on such a momentous occasion? Only 24 full pages of Zelda excellence (and fantastic looking cover art to boot). According to gonintendo.com, this issue, which is slated for October release, includes the following.

3DS Ambassador Games Are Here!

Today is the day ladies and gentlemen! If you are part of the ambassadors program (aka bought a 3DS before the official price cut date) you have 10 free games to download! Now, apparently some people have been having problems, so here is an answer: “There’s been some confusion as to how to get them. All you need to do is go to the Nintendo 3DS eShop and click ‘Settings/Other’ then scroll down to ‘Titles You’ve Downloaded’. Once you’ve done this scroll right down and you should see the ten free NES games.” (Source).

I’m going to apoligize for my lack of activity as well. I just started at Kutztown University so if you don’t see me then I’m writing something for my professors (or playing those free 3DS games, just saying)!

Skyward Sword Dungeon Demo

Here is some footage from the dungeon demo at Gamescom 2011. There isn’t much new stuff here, but around 3:30 when Link finds a piece of heart it shows that you only need 4 pieces of heart to complete a heart container instead of 5 like in Twilight Princess. Skyward Sword comes out Sunday November 20th in America, so put it on your Christmas want list if you can’t get it for yourself.

Content Update! Ages: Site Walkthrough – Chapter 1
Posted on August 12, 2011 by Raven

This content covers everything up until the first dungeon. The text is complete, but I skipped some of the formatting near the end. I couldn’t bring myself to finish, I have to sleep, then go straight out the door to an interview in the morning, then work. So I’m posting it now rather than midnight tomorrow because I’ll be gone all day. My last update wasn’t complete either and won’t be for a while, but I can guarantee this content will be 100% in less than a week. You may notice there are duplicate pictures everywhere, I have the actual screenshots that are supposed to be there ready and will add those on Saturday. So please check back to see those in game screens. It’s gunna look awesome!

Hello, Zelda Eternity viewers. The ZE Summer Marathon recently ended, and looking back at what was done, I’d say we were pretty successful overall. We were able to clear every single Zelda game we set out to finish (except for Oracle of Ages), and had a generally good time. Now that the marathon’s over, it’s time for the end credits. Reggie Fils-Aime will provide the music!
