So yeah, the forums are back and hopefully we won't be shifting software anymore. This is vBulletin, a forum software that is a lot more powerful than MyBB and SMF as it's like better supported and stuff, plus it's a paid software, so... You know what? I'm not going to get into the details. Point is, we're back and we're on vBulletin. The import was a success though there were a few bugs along the way (to be expected). One of the things you will notice is that things like "quotes" and any words that use ' or even if you use quotation marks, they are all messed up. If you want to fix any of your posts with these problems, go on ahead if you feel like it. If you continue to make new posts and new threads, it won't matter. For now, you'll have to put up with them. Also, you MAY need to fix up your avatar and your signatures as the coding can be a little different with vBulletin.
With vBulletin, we already get better protection against spambots but even the core system comes with some interesting perks, specifically for profiles. You have the ability to leave "Visitor Messages" on a member's profile, a similar feature we used in the past with MyBB and not so much SMF. It's pretty cool so you should have fun with it. You also have the option to put together a "Friends List" and most importantly, you can customize your profile by clicking on "Settings" in the top right corner where there'll be many areas to edit in the side menu. Tired of the blandness on your profile page? No problem. Just click the "Customize My Profile" button and edit away. It does seem a bit complex for those unfamiliar but you should get the hang of it if you play around with it. We will be implementing forum modifications soon, so you'll have your spoiler tags and all that nonsense soon. For those wondering, we'll get working on a ZE-themed forum theme when we get the chance. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the new Zelda Eternity Community Forums.
Thanks!
- Mike
NOTE: You have to reset your password to be able to log back into the forums. To do that, click here.
Also, since we're starting fresh with vBulletin's settings, there might be a few things we still need to edit to make the forums fit everyone's needs. Things such as image size limits when you're using custom avatars/signatures, for example. Remember, if you have any suggestions or concerns (including issues with size limits), feel free to create a thread in the Feedback/Suggestions category.
ALSO, if you're using IE, you might have trouble using the "text boxes" when Quick-Replying or editing your sig. At the moment we have no solution for that, so I'd suggest switching browsers. XD
