Spirit Tracks: Good or Bad?

The Zelda community seems to be almost split in half on this topic. Many Zelda fans have called it one of the worst Zeldas ever made, while others have, even if not called it one of the best, given it almost nothing but praise. A few fans are in the middle on this, but it's very rare.

I personally say it's good, nay, great. It's one of my favorite games in history (partially because it's Zelda, so there's a little bias involved) despite the glaring flaws it has. It's one of the best games the DS has to offer imo and is a far cry from a bad Zelda game (which applies to all official Zelda games). I don't give the game a 9/10 for nothing.

But what are your thoughts on Spirit Tracks? Do you think it's good, OK, or bad? Please tell!

I think it was good, I never liked the DS games THAT much though, mainly because of the style and the controls. However, I liked ST better than PH on dungeons, puzzles, music and items (at least how I remember it). I didn't like that the overworld was restricted with the train tracks and that it could be pain sometimes, but I liked ST, I'd say it's maybe a bit above average on my Zelda list.

Eh, I enjoyed the game, but It was far from my favorite zelda game. I actually prefer Phantom Hourglass much more.

I loved Spirit Tracks. While it is not in my top 5 Zelda games, it might be my favorite handheld one, the only competition being Minish Cap. I definitely thought ST was better than Phantom Hourglass, even if the train did get annoying at times.

Calling a Zelda game "bad" is an excuse to complain. Seriously, no game in the series can truly be called "bad". I can understand "lackluster for the series" or "disappointing when compared to other entries", but "bad" is just silly. Spirit Tracks is not bad by any stretch of the imagination, even if it's not in your opinion one of the better entries in the series.

It's not very similar to the rest of the series, and it has a very different feel from the more well-known entries like Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess. That doesn't mean it's a bad game, though, just a different game, and sadly, a lot of people have difficulty adjusting to the differences and would rather declare the game as "bad" than go to the effort to adjust their own perception to see the game on its own rather than part of a much bigger series. Spirit Tracks does its own thing, and if you go in expecting otherwise, of course you'll be disappointed.

Of course, that's not including those among us who wrote it off from the start for having a train in it. =|

Exactly. I was actually very shocked at how different Spirit Tracks was from the rest of the titles in the series. It was very similar to Majora's Mask in that sense. I didn't expect to like the game nearly as much as I did. That may be partially due to me not knowing what to expect, bu tit was shocking nonetheless.

Of course, that's not including those among us who wrote it off from the start for having a train in it. =|

Btw, I'm actually a huge fan of the train. I really don't know why, but I am.

I love the DS games, and Spirit Tracks is obviously no exception. The music itself makes this game something out of the ordinary. If I would answer this question as easily as the question is asked, I'd say it's good. Though I didn't like the train as much, I always thought it was okay.
