Lord Ghirahim's fate: dead or alive?

Hello, ZE forums. I have a theory about Lord Ghirahim's end in SS. I originally thought that he died either A) when Demise first pulls Ghirahim into his sword or B) when the sword fades from view. Then I thought about that scene for some time and an idea hit me: what if Ghirahim never actually died? My reason for thinking this is that Demise obviously sought revenge for his defeat at Link's hand, stating:
    • "Though this is not the end. My hate... never perishes. It is born anew in a cycle with no end! I will rise again. Those like you... Those who share the blood of the goddess and the spirit of the hero... They are eternally bound to this curse. An incarnation of my hatred shall ever follow your kind, dooming them to wander a blood-soaked sea of darkness for all time!"
He clearly knew that he and/or his pure hatred would come back in one form or another (such as Ganondorf). This is the point where my theory kicks in. Demise is immensely powerful, creating/preparing an entire battlefield solely for his fight with Link. Is it not possible, then, that his sword disintigrating was actually Demise teleporting Ghirahim to a safe place to facilitate his revenge? There's no reason he wouldn't be able to do it, as we see Ghirahim (who is far weaker than Demise) teleporting left and right throughout the course of the game. I believe this gives Ghirahim great potential to return in the series, as well as the posibility of an even deeper look into Ganondorf's backstory.

    Your thoughts?

I think it's somewhat possible that the Trident in FSA was supposed to be retconned as Demise's sword, but the connection relies on SS's backstory being the same as TP's, so I can only classify it as a slightly plausible theory.

This is interesting, but I doubt we'll ever get an answer on this. If Ghirahim appears in another Zelda game because of this, I'd have to be a Skyward Sword sequel, which is highly possible, but then it'd have to be explained how Ghirahim survived. This requires Skyward Sword and its sequel to be directly story connected, something that is very unusual for the Zelda series. I don't actually see Ghirahim reappear in any future Zelda game at all, simply just because I don't see why. Agahnim never reappeared, and neither did Zant, Majora or Vaati (except the FS games which I don't count). These are all villains who only appeared once in a Zelda game, and as I see it, Ghirahim is one of them. Of course, it is possible that one of them will return one day, but it'd have to make sense to either the official timeline or to how they previously got defeated.

I think this theory stands strong, and we can go ahead and imagine that he survived, but I don't think we'll see Ghirahim again.

My thought is that Ghirahim, instead of being killed by Demise pulling the sword from him (though it did look very painful), was just sealed inside the sword. A lot like how Fi is within the Master Sword. After that, it's just the simple matter of placing the sword somewhere safe. I also think his return wouldn't necessarily have to be in a sequel. I believe that Ghirahim's power was greatly diminished by his fight with Link and the pulling of Demise's Sword, possibly needing hundreds of years to recuperate. At that point, there's still the matter of being held within the sword. I doubt he'd be able to do much more than create a physical manifestation of himself in a similar manner to Fi. To give my thoughts on what JucieJ said about the Trident, I believe Ghirahim sensed when Ganondorf came about, recognizing his power as that of his master's, and tried to draw Ganondorf to the sword's location. Ganondorf then could have modified the sword into a weapon that was more suited to his style.

I think that Ghirahim's fate is similar to that of Fi's. He is still alive, but he remains in eternal slumber somewhere in the world, possibly FSA's Trident of Power. But that is still uncertain.

I think Ghirahim was just to balance Link's use of Fi. However, Ghirahim functioned without his master.

I can see Demise being the kind of pompous jerk that would create an entire other sword-dwelling being just so he could have one, but Ghirahim's ability to work on his own without orders from his master is what makes me think he is more than just Demise's answer to Fi.

Correct. The spirit of Demise is known for his use of puppets amd other forms before he is killed, as well.

I found a video on youtube that stated the theory that Ghirahim was so wounded after the final battle that he became the Kokiri Sword and later, when you upgrade the Kokiri Sword, Ghirahim started to regain his power and became the Gilded Sword. This is supported by the designs of Ghirahim and the Gilded Sword being very similar.
