Well, I am sure that most of you will be writing spectacular fan fiction, but I did just want to point out a small list of rules for these.

Grammar:

Grammar is quite a prodigious factor when writing fan fictions. Please try to include good grammar in your stories. While perfect spelling and adjective use is not required, we do not want to see someone post a un-understandable (If that is even a word) fan fiction. For example, we do not want you to post something like "Link Lik jum int pit ad ied" This will be considered an extreme case of poor grammar - in fact, we do not even know what you are saying in this case - and one of the Moderators/Site Staff will lock your thread promptly.

Note: You may use poor grammar in dialogue, if it is how the character talks. For example, Tingle always talks in third person.

Opinions:

One other important thing to say, is that use of opinions in fan fiction is limited. Why you may still express certain view points, you must do so while stating a claim to back up your stance. We do not want people twining certain views into their fictions, without including at least one point to back it up. Example:

"Link only could think to himself, how dumb was the 35 year old man? He seemed like a under educated individual thinking that he would become a fairy..."

See how the stance on tingle is backed up by saying he thinks he can become a fairy? (We all know that is quite impossible) I gave a logical example of why tingle is misinformed. A bad Example of Tingle being dumb may go as follows:

"'Tingle is lame' thought link. 'He is the dumbest guy I've met...'"

No reason behind why you think that... So please, do not embarrass yourself by getting threads locked for not containing a support for your point of view.

Also, we would prefer if you did not post views that might offend people, like "'9-11 was good for America, they deserved it' Thought Link, now basking in the ashes of the collapse" Someone, most Americans actually, find that offending. Please do not post things such as that.

Examples:

If you did not understand what I meant by some things in the rules, these are just some examples are here to show you what a outstanding post would look like, and what a not so good one would look like. Anything in between that should be all good and dandy.

Good Examples:

"Link grasped his sword, and with a burly heave, flung it straight into Ganon's chest..."

"The Like Like's strong suction dragged link further and further, all of the sudden he felt the cold flesh of the creature wrap around..."

Bad Examples:

"Lik was so coo dat he kiled gnon"

"Tingle dumb and stupid and crazy and lame"

See how the good examples are legitimate, if not suspenseful, while the bad examples express a opinion without a thesis, and look like they were written in little over 10 seconds? Also, please remember to follow all the rules for the entire Zelda Eternity forums when writing fan fiction. No subject is exempted from the main ZE rules.
