Author's Note:
This is the first two sections of a story that encompasses all of Ocarina of Time. I'm not sure how to upload the entire story as it exceeds the character limit on here (so a little help on that would be cool, haha). I am intending to convert this to a screenplay so that's why it's written in an odd, nontypical, story format. So without further ado, I present the first two parts of my adaptation of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

The Hyrulean Civil War
In a premonition, Ganondorf (Governor of the Gerudo Desert and its people), sees himself as the King of Hyrule being killed by a Man in Green. He sees the Princess Zelda standing beside the mysterious green figure calling him the Hero of Time. In an effort to protect himself from this bittersweet future, he goes to the current King of Hyrule and tells him that he and his daughter are in danger from a great evil. The King falls for Ganondorf's trick and entrusts him with heading up the charge of finding this threat. Ganondorf takes advantage of this position and power and tears apart the countryside looking for the boy. He burns the homes of those who resist and kills anybody who stands up to him.
After a short while, several groups of people begin to appeal to the King, asking him to stop Ganondorf. The King ignores the requests of his people for some time and a civil war breaks out in the land. Eventually, the King agrees with his people and sends a band of soldiers to retrieve Ganondorf. Before the squad arrives, Ganondorf finds a former warrior and his family. The warrior is standing up to Ganondorf as the soldiers arrive. The request from the King to return to the Castle as well as the warrior's resistance, infuriate Ganondorf, and in a fit of rage he stabs the warrior. The warrior's wife grabs their daughter and infant son, and they flee the house as Ganondorf sets it ablaze. Ganondorf peruses the three of them into the forest. A short while later the mother trips on a rock and drops her son. She calls after her daughter to grab him and keep running. Ganondorf approaches her and drives his blade into her. The daughter and her infant brother continue through the forest and arrive at the Great Deku Tree. Ganondorf returns to the warrior's home and finds him still clinging to life. The warrior draws his sword and tries to defend himself, but Ganondorf kills him. As Ganondorf mounts his horse, he realizes he can no longer sense the Hero of Time and assumes he has killed him.
When Ganondorf returns to the Castle, he informs the King that he finally found the dangerous threat and that he would no longer be a threat to Hyrule. The King is enthusiastic to hear this news but tells Ganondorf to return home for a time and let the people of Hyrule calm down. The war continues for several more years. Ganondorf obliges and returns to the desert for 17 years. However, he has become obsessed with learning all he can about the Hero of Time and learns of the Triforce. He decides that he wants this power for himself and decides that he will stop at nothing to find it. This is when he returns to Hyrule seeking the Sacred Stones.

Link and the Kokiri Forest
Link, the infant boy, and his older sister Aryll have grown up under the care of the Great Deku Tree and the Kokiri. One night, Link has a dream showing the scene depicted earlier (his mother fleeing Ganondorf) but when they reach the forest a beam of golden light bursts forth from the forest and pierces Ganondorf's chest. When Link awakens from the dream, it is early morning. He leaves and goes to a nearby lake and is fishing. His dear friend, Saria arrives and they discuss the dream Link had. She tells him that it's something worth talking to the Great Deku Tree about and as it happens, he has requested an audience with Link. Link returns to his house and Aryll gives him a shield and a hat for his birthday (Aryll has a scar on the back of her hand). After receiving these things, Link goes to see the Great Deku Tree.
When he arrives there, the Great Deku Tree informs him that a man in dark armor will be arriving soon and when he arrives, Link and his sister must be gone from the village. The Great Deku Tree gives Link the Kokiri's Emerald, then tells him that they must leave for Hyrule Castle. Link is hesitant to accept this but the Deku Tree urges desperately. Suddenly there is commotion heard from the direction of the village. Smoke is seen rising over the village. Some screaming and horses are also heard. The Deku Tree immediately tells Link to get his sister and leave, as well as giving him a sword to defend himself with. Link takes the sword and runs off.
Link arrives back in the village and sees smoke rising from several buildings, including his home. Link rushes over to his house and begins frantically looking for Aryll in the smoke and flames. Suddenly he hears her screaming. He rushes back out of the house and sees her tied to the back of a boar being taken away. He also sees a man in dark armor on the back of a black horse (it's Ganondorf, but Link doesn't know him yet). Link begins running at him but Saria grabs him and pulls him inside a small cave. Link is upset and tries to get away, but Saria won't let him go back out. They stay in the cave until the monsters and Ganondorf have left.
Before they leave the cave, she explains that the man in dark armor is named Ganondorf and that he is a dark sorcerer from the desert. He came by the forest and met with the Deku Tree not many days ago, and left very upset. She also tells Link that Ganondorf was trying to get the Kokiri Emerald. Link shows Saria that the Deku Tree had given it to him and they decide to go see the Great Deku Tree.
When they get there, the Great Deku Tree explains to them that when Ganondorf first came seeking the Kokiri Emerald, the Deku Tree refused giving it to him. For this, he put a death curse on the Great Deku Tree. After thinking carefully about it, and praying to the Goddesses, the time had come for Link to leave the forest. Link asks where Ganondorf has gone and explains that Aryll has been kidnapped. The Deku Tree tells Link he must hurry to Hyrule Castle and seek council with the Princess Zelda and she will be able to help him further. With that, the Deku Tree tells them that he is in his final hour. He instructs Saria that she must remain in the forest and take care of the Kokiri until there is a new guardian. With that, the Great Deku passes away and Link and Saria slowly walk away.
Later that night Link is crossing the bridge that leads out of the Kokiri Forest. Saria approaches from behind him and calls out to him. She tells him to be careful and tells him to come home when he's saved Aryll. Link promises to return. They embrace for a moment then Link turns and leaves.
