    Twilight Princess Story

This is the actual story of Twilight Princess with a few changes. Call it artistic license (and attempting to make the story a bit better). There will be some changes to the story, as well. I started this on Zelda Dungeon, but I figured I'd start putting it up here, as well. I was originally going to separate it into two parts (like the game) but I decided not to. Instead, I'm going to make the end happen the first time the Mirror of Twilight is reached, meaning it won't be broken. This will make the epic conclusion that much better imo. (Oh, and Ilia won't lose her memory due to this. I hate to do this, but I kind of have no choice if I'm going to carry it out like I am.) This post will just be the chapters and subchapters.

Oh, by the way, some quotes will be direct, others will be original. (Hey, some things need to stay orignal.) Oh, and Link has lines!

    Chapter 1: The Beginning

    New characters in this subchapter:
    Link
    Rusl
    Epona
    Uli
    Colin
    Fado
    Ilia

    Tending the Herd

"Tell me," Rusl said. "Do you ever feel a strange sadness as dusk falls? They say it's the only time when our world intersects with theirs. The only time we can feel the lingering regrets of spirits who have left our world. That is why loneliness always pervades the hour of twilight... But enough talk of sadness. I have a favor to ask of you, Link. I was supposed to deliver something to the royal family of Hyrule the day after tomorrow. Yes, it was a task set to me by the mayor, but...would you go in my stead?"

    Link looked over to Rusl.

"You have...never been to Hyrule, right?" Rusl asked.

    Link nodded.

"Hm. Thank you," Rusl said with a smile. "In the kingdom of Hyrule there is a great castle, and around it is Castle Town, a community far bigger than our little village. And far bigger than Hyrule is the rest of the world the goddesses created. You should look upon it all with your own eyes."

Link just stared at the vibrant sunset in the background of the beautiful Ordon Spring.

"It is getting late. We should head back to the village. I will talk to the mayor about this matter," Rusl said.

    "All right," Link replied.

Link and Rusl shut the gate to the Spring and guided Epona back to Ordon Village. When they got back, Rusl's wife, Uli, and child, Colin, were waiting for them. Colin smiled at their arrival. Rusl went over to Colin and pregnant wife Uli and walked with them towards their house. Colin looked back and gave Link one last smile, which Link returned. Link then tied Epona up and climbed up the ladder to his house. Unknowingly to him, someone came up and untied Epona, guiding her towards the Spring. Just as Link plopped down on his bed, he heard a shout.

"Hey, Link! You there?" It was Fado, the ranch owner. Link looked out his window.

"Yeah. What do you need?" Link asked.

"Hey, you mind helpin' me herd the goats? They ain't listenin' to me lately!"

"Yeah, sure thing, Fado," Link said. "I'll be right down."

Just as Link had exited his house, Fado noticed something was wrong. "Hey, where's Epona?" he said alarmingly.

"What?" Link exclaimed as he looked over to her sleeping area. "Well, that doesn't make any sense, I tied her up before I...Ilia."

    "What?" Fado said in confusion.

"Ilia," Link repeated. "She must have taken her down to the Spring again."

Well, c'mon, now, hurry on up an' bring Epona with you," Fado said hurriedly. "We a'int got all day."

    "Yeah..." Link sighed.

Link walked down to the Ordon Spring and found Ilia petting Epona's head.

"Oh, hi, Link," Ilia said. "I washed Epona for you."

    Link just smiled.

"Oh, do you need Epona right now?" Ilia asked. "Oh, I'm sorry, Link. I didn't know."

"Nah, it's all right," Link replied. "As long as I can round up the herd before it gets dark."

Well, Epona's all prettied up now, so I suppose you can ride her back. But don't you make her do too much, OK?" Ilia said imploringly. "Epona is a girl too, so you have to treat her nice like one!"

"Okay, okay, I will," Link said chuckling.

Link got on Epona and rode back to Ordon Village. On his way to the ranch, he passed by many of the villagers, who would cheerfully say, "Oh, hi, Link!" as he rode by. He eventually came across Colin and Uli.

"Good evening, Link," Uli said calmly. "This is a lovely sunset, is it not? It is kind of you to spend time with my husband, you know. It gives me time for myself!"

"Oh, hi, Link," Colin said. "I'm making you a fishing rod, y'know! All I have left to do is paint it, so get ready for fishing!" he said somewhat excitedly.

"Oh, well thanks, Colin," Link said.

"Um...are you headed to the ranch, Link?" Colin asked.

"Oh, do you have to go put the livestock to bed now?" Uli asked. "Oh, I'm sorry to keep you waiting," she apologized.

"No, no, it's fine," Link replied.

"Well, you should go to the ranch before the sun goes down," Uli said.

    "Bye, Link," Colin said.

Link rode down a little further and found Rusl doing his usual sword training routine.

"Ah, great timing, Link!" Rusl said. "There was something I had forgotten to tell you. My son Colin is making a fishing rod so the two of you can play together. He should finish it today, so you come get it at the house tomorrow."

"Yeah, he told me about that," Link replied. "That's pretty nice of him to do that."

"Yes, I guess it is, haha," Rusl responded. "Now, it is Colin's first fishing rod, so it may not be the best one out there...but you will be kind and use it anyway, right?" he asked.

"Oh, of course. I'm sure Colin and I will have a great time with it," Link said assuredly.

"Well, that's great, Link," Rusl said thankfully. "Well, I'd assume since you're on Epona that you're heading up to the ranch?" he said.

"Yes, Fado needs help putting up the herd," Link replied.

"Well, best not keep you waiting," Rusl said. "See you tommorrow, Link!"

    "You, too, Rusl," Link replied.

Link went up the hill to the ranch and met up with Fado.

"Ah, there you are!" Fado exclaimed gratefully. "Sorry to get you over here in such a hurry, Link. These guys have been awful skittish lately. They won't listen to a word I say! Sorry to ask, bud, but how's about you an' Epona herd 'em into the barn real quick? We ain't got much time, so you think you can do it for me?"

    "Sure thing, Fado," Link said.

"Much obliged there, bud," Fado said. "OK, then, go on an' herd all these little scamps into the barn."

Link rode around the ranch, whooping and hollering at the goats (blue, with horns that met up top in a circle), getting them into the barn. After all of them had been driven in, Link put each of them in one of the stables.

"Link, Epona... Much obliged to both of y'all," Fado said thankfully. "I can cover everythin' tomorrow without havin' to trouble you, so just sit back an' relax, bud."

"Oh, thanks, Fado," Link replied. "Thanks a lot."

"No problem, Link," Fado said. "Besides, it's the least I can do for you after this."

"All right, then," Link said. "Thanks again."

Link rode off into the village and went to his house, grateful he could finally sleep and actually have a day off the next day.

    Re: Twilight Princess Story

    Chapter 1: The Beginning

    New characters in this subchapter:
    Talo
    Beth
    Malo
    Sera
    Hanch

    When in Ordon

Link awoke to the shouting of a familiar voice.

"Hey, wake up, Link! It's morning already!"

It was Talo, one of the village's children. Link looked out his window to see Talo and two other youngsters, Beth, a tween girl, and Malo, a little older than a toddler.

"Come on, Link, we need you down here!" Beth shouted.

"Yeah, we've got something to show you!" Talo continued.

Link climbed down the ladder leading to his bed, opened the door to his house, and hopped down off of the ledge.

"Hey, Link, you gotta check this out!" Talo implored. "Look over there at the trees!"

On 5 of the trees to the left was a circular target placed at different heights and distances.

"We made these targets so you could shoot 'em down with this slingshot we made!" Talo said excitedly. "Here, try it out!"

Talo practically shoved the slingshot into Link's hands, to which Link replied, "Uh...ok. Sure. Why not?"

"All right!!" each of the children exclaimed.

"Oh, here, take these pumpkin seeds to use as pellets," Malo said, handing quite a number of seeds to Link.

    "Thanks, Malo," Link said.

Link took one of the seeds and shot it at a target, breaking it upon impact.

"Whoa!!" all of the children shouted. Link looked quite surprised himself. Link just kept on shooting, never missing one of the targets and breaking each one of them.

"Wow..." all of the children said yet again in unison.

"Wow, Link. That was incredible!" Talo said in amazement.

"Yeah, it really was," Beth said fervently. (It was quite clear that she had a minor crush on Link.)

"It really was impressive, Link," Malo said in a somewhat muttered voice.

"Well...now we don't have any targets left," Malo said in a depressed tone. "What are we gonna do, now?"

"Ooh, how about you show us your sword skills again, Link?" Ilia asked.

"Beth, Colin's dad is repairing his sword, remember?" Talo said somewhat rudely.

    "Oh, right..." Beth said, disappointed.

"Well, I guess we'll just have to find something to do on our own, huh?" Talo said.

"Yeah, I guess so," Malo replied.

"Oh, well, Link," Beth said. "I guess you won't be able to show us your sword skills today. So disappointing..."

"Hey, if Rusl gets done fixing it today, of course I can."

"Oh, yeah, that's right!" the children shouted.

"Well, I guess we should find something to do until then," Talo said, itching to find something to do. "Come on, let's go!"

"Bye, Link!" they all shouted as they ran off to their play area in the village.

"Bye!" Link shouted back. Link then remembered something. "Oh, that's right, Colin made that fishing rod for me! I guess I better go get it."

Link ran down to Colin's house to find Uli sitting on the steps. She had a basket beside her for when the baby was born, and behind her was a fishing rod.

"Oh, good morning, Link," she greeted him. "Lovely morning, isn't it?"

"Yes, I guess it is," Link responded.

"I would assume you're here to get Colin's fishing rod?" she asked.

"Yes, as a matter of fact, I am," Link said.

"Well, I've got it right here," Uli said as she reached for it. "Here you go," she said warmingly.

    "Thanks, Uli," Link said.

"I'll go get Colin so you to can go play together," Uli said. She then slowly got up (due to her being far into the pregnancy) and walked inside. A moment later, Colin came rushing out with Rusl walking behind him.

"Hi, Link!" he said excitedly. "Ready to go fishing?"

"Yeah, of course," Link replied. "That's why I came here."

"Well, let's go!" he said rushing towards the pond.

Link, Uli, and Rusl all chuckled at Colin's eagerness and excitement. Rusl said,

"Thanks, Link. For taking time out of your day to play with Colin."

    "Indeed," Uli added.

"Well, no problem," Link replied. "I've grown up with Colin more than half my life. You two were still raising me when he was born."

"Nevertheless, Link," Rusl said thankfully. "None of the other kids treat him well, so it's nice for him to have a friend."

"Hey!" Colin yelled in the distance. "Come on, Link! The fish are waiting!"

    They each laughed again.

"Well, I better not keep Colin waiting," Link said. "Or the fish, haha."

    "Thanks again, Link," Uli said.

    "Sure thing," Link replied.

Link went down to the pond and fished for a while with Colin, mostly catching a few Greengills here and there, but ultimately managing to catch the local fish of the village, the Ordon Catfish. A coveted fish among the villagers and one considered as a delicacy, despite how slimy they were.

"Look, Link, you caught one of the catfish!" Colin said in amazement.

"Yeah, I did," Link said somewhat surprised. "Not an easy fish to catch."

Just then, a cat darted out of nowhere and nabbed the fish off of Link's hook.

"What the...?" Link exclaimed in shock.

"What was that?" Colin asked in the same manner.

"Wait, that was Sera's cat." Link said puzzled. "What was he doing all the way out here?" Sera was Beth's mother.

"I guess he saw us fishing," Colin said.

"Hm. I guess so," Link replied.

"Well, there goes our catfish," Colin said disappointed.

"Aw, come on, Colin," Link said in an attempt to cheer Colin up. "At least we caught it."

    "Mm..." Colin replied, still saddened.

"Well, let's go down to Sera's place and see what's going on there," Link said. "Looks like that's where her cat ran off to."

    "Ok..." Colin said somewhat glumly.

Link and Colin walked over to Sera's house to find her ecstatic.

"Oh, my! Link, come in!" she said excitedly. "Oh, you simply MUST here this! My little kitty cat is so amazing! Today, he caught a fish all by his little old self! How do you think he caught it? Maybe he's a genius!"

"Uh...maybe he didn't actually catch it, Sera," Hanch, Beth's father, said with a very airy voice.

"What do you mean??" Sera retorted.

Hanch replied somewhat timidly, "Well...um...it's just that...Link and Colin were out fishing today, and Link has a fishing rod in his hand right now, so..."

"WHAT?" Sera shouted outraged. "Are you suggesting my sweet little kitty STOLE that fish from Link and Colin??"

    "Ummm..." Hanch looked terrified.

"Oh, well, he actually did, Sera," Link said sensing the awkward tone in the room. "But it's fine, you two can have it."

"What? My sweet, innocent little kitty actually stole a fish?" Sera said both shocked and sorrowed. "Oh, I'm so sorry, Link," she apologized. "Here, you take it back-"

"No, no, I said you can have it," Link said hurriedly. "It's fine, really."

"Well...ok," Sera said sighing. "I guess I'll have to do something to punish my cat, though."

"Oh, no, there's no need for that," Link said. "It's just a fish, and...he's a cat. Besides, Colin and I were just playing around today. It's not like we were planning on catching an Ordon Catfish. It just...happened."

"Well, then" Hanch said. "I guess this matter's settled, then."

"Oh, you, why couldn't YOU have caught that fish?" Sera said almost angered again.

"Well, um..." Hanch looked intimidated again.

"Ok, well, I guess I'd better be leaving now," Link said, once again feeling an awkward tone in the room. "All right, then. Let's get going, Colin," he said almost imploringly.

"Yeah, I think that'd be good," Colin said with the same feeling Link had.

"Oh, all right," Sera said. Bye, you two!"

    "Yeah..." Hanch added.

Just as they exited the house, the rest of the kids were waiting for Link.

"Hey, Link!" Talo said eagerly, to which Link was almost taken aback. "Colin's dad just dropped off your sword at your house! Come on, go get it so you can show us your sword skills again!"

"Yeah, Link, come on!" Beth echoed.

"Whatever they say, I guess," Malo said.

"Oh. Well, all right, then!" Link replied. "You gonna come with us, Colin?" Link asked.

"Um...no, I guess not," Colin said.

"Ah, come on, Colin," Talo said. "Why do you have to be such a baby all the time?"

"Hey!" Link said defensively. "Why do you always have to talk to Colin like that all the time?"

"Oh, um..." Talo said hesitantly. "Um...sorry, Colin," he said, although he didn't really mean it. The other children just stood there nonchalantly.

"Well, if you're sure, Colin..." Link said.

    "I'm sure," Colin replied.

"Ok, then," Link said feeling kind of sorry for Colin.

"Bye, Link. Bye, guys," Colin said. He walked home with his hands together, typical of Colin, as he usually seemed to not have much self-confidence.

"Well, come on, Link, let's go!" Talo said again.

    "Yeah..." Link replied.

    Re: Twilight Princess Story

    Chapter 1: The Beginning

    New characters in this subchapter:
    Monkey

    The Chase

"All right, show us your sword skills, Link!" Talo practically demanded. He had a stick in his hand, ready to imitate Links motions.

"Yeah, Link, come on!" Beth said imploringly.

"All right, all right," Link said. "Just calm down."

"YES!" Talo shouted with utmost excitement.

Link performed many different types of basic moves on a scarecrow-like thing with a pumpkin for a head, his usual training object, to which the children were fascinated by (except Malo who seemed somewhat uninterested.)

"Wow, Link," Beth said with a slight swoon tone in her voice. (She obviously had a minor crush on Link).

"Yeah, Link, that was great!" Talo exclaimed. "Now show us the more advanced techniques!"

"Yeah, like your Spin Attack!" Beth added.

Link reared back his blade and seemed to put energy into it, and performed an amazing spin with incredible torque that almost knocked the scarecrow-like object out of the ground.

"Wow!" both Beth and Talo said in amazement.

"That was awesome, Link!" Talo yet again exclaimed.

"Ooh, don't forget to show us that Jump Attack of yours!" Beth said in a somewhat rushed and (yet again) swoon-like voice.

"All right, here goes," Link said.

Link did a backflip and jumped towards the target, swinging down with amazing force, completely obliterating the pumpkin, to which the children, even Malo, just stared at in amazement.

"Wow, Link..." Talo said stunned. "That was incredible."

    "Yeah," Beth added.

"I guess it was," Malo mumbled.

"Man, there have been these pesky monkeys around lately, but if any of them come by, surely you can handle 'em, right Link?" Talo asked.

"Um, yeah, I guess," Link replied.

"And, of course, I can always help out!" Talo said enthusiastically.

"Sure, I guess so," Link said again.

"Well, I'm gonna go practice, Link," Talo said. "See you later!"

Talo ran over to the play area and started swinging his toy sword around somewhat clumsily. Link just chuckled and walked towards the village. Link just sat by the pond, sometimes looking at the sky, and sometimes watching the fish, remembering fishing with Colin. He sat there for a while in thought when Beth came running up to Link.

"Link!" she shouted out. "Link, come quick!"

Link was startled out of his trance. "Whoa, what is it?" he asked.

"Talo and a monkey, he just took off and the woods and-"

"Whoa, whoa, slow down, Beth," Link said. "What about Talo and a monkey?"

"While Talo was swinging his toy sword around, he saw a monkey and chased after it into the Faron Woods!"

"WHAT?!?" Link interjected. "Why would he do something like that?!?"

"I don't know, he just really wanted to teach the monkey a lesson, or something..." Beth said worriedly. "Ohhh, this is not good."

"It sure isn't," Link replied. "Don't worry, I'll go after him."

"OH, and Malo went chasing after him!" Beth added.

"You're kidding me...!" Link said in disbelief. "Agh, I'll see if I can find him along the way."

"Hurry, Link, before something bad happens to them!" Beth implored.

"Don't worry, I'll find them," Link assured her.

Link ran to his house to get his lantern, as the Faron Woods could get dark at times, and saw Colin waiting there.

"Colin, what are you doing here?" Link asked.

"I heard Beth tell you what happened," Colin answered. "Link, you've got to hurry."

"Don't worry, I am," Link said. Link then put his lantern on his side, saddled up Epona and charged into the woods. Not too far into the woods, Link ran into Malo.

"Link!" he said panting. "Link, Talo was captured by these weird purple creatures with bludgers!"

"What?" Link said confused. "I've never heard of anything like that in the Woods..."

"I don't know what they were, but they captured him and that monkey!" Malo said, still exhausted.

"Don't worry, I'll find out where they went."

    "Link, hurry," Malo panted.

Link rode off deeper into the woods, following the footprints of these strange new creatures. He kept tracking them until he came across a dark cave. He reared back Epona to a halt and dismounted. He then noticed Talo's toy sword at the mouth of the cave.

    "Wait here, girl," he said.

Link lit his lantern and walked through the cave. As he was walking through, strange bats started to charge at him, to which he hit them with his wooden sword.

"Gah. What in the world was that?" he said in shock. Nevertheless, he kept moving forward, determined to find Talo and the creatures that took him.

After a while, Link found his way out of the cave and into a deep part of the woods filled with mist. Link extinguished the flame in his lantern, as it just made the mist seem thicker, and hung it on his side again. Not too much farther into the woods, Link was charged by one of the monsters Malo had described. It tried to hit him over the head, but Link dodged it and sliced away at it, eventually stabbing it through its center. The beast cried out in pain and died.

"Man..." Link said exasperated. "That's definitely nothing like I've ever seen before."

Link pressed on through the woods only to be greeted by some sort of plant thing with a blue mouth for a bulb, a long tongue, and sharp teeth. It tried to bite Link, but he once again dodged it and hit it with his sword, but it did nothing. It's bulb was super-thick and resisted his attack. It reared back to bite again, but Link slashed where its mouth was open, splitting it down the middle and killing it instantly.

"Geez, what the hell was that?" Link said even more surprised than before. "This place is nothing like it should be..." he said with an ominous feeling.

Link kept moving forward through the thick woods, running into more of the purple monsters and strange plant-like creatures, as well as more bats until he eventually saw Talo and a white monkey with a rose on its head trapped in a wooden cage in the distance, guarded by a two of the purple monsters.

"Come here, you freaks of nature," he muttered to himself.

Link charged forward and took out the two monsters with ease and extreme anger.

    "Good riddance," he said hatefully.

Talo and the monkey were both still crying out in the cage, not really aware of what was going on.

    "Talo!" Link shouted.

"Huh?" Talo looked up in confusion. "OH, LINK!" he shouted out. "Link, am I glad to see you. Link, you've got to get us out of here!"

"Don't worry, I'll get you out in a second," Link said assuredly. "Just duck down. Like that monkey already is."

    "Ok..." Talo said, still frightened.

Link reared back his sword and performed his Spin Attack, obliterating the wooden bars of the round cage.

"YEAH!" Talo shouted in gratitude. The monkey also celebrated in relief. The monkey just looked at the both of them for a few seconds and darted off.

    "Well, that was...something," Link said.

"Yeah, it sure was," Talo agreed.

"Well, we better get heading back to the village," Link told Talo.

"Yeah, I guess so," Talo replied.

Link and Talo started to walk back through the woods, when the monkey dropped down right in front of them.

    "Eep!" it shouted to them.

    "Um...ok?" Link said in confusion.

"Eep!" the monkey said again making a gesture to follow it.

"What?" Talo also said in confusion.

"Ohh, I get it," Link said. "She wants us to follow her."

    "Eep!!" the monkey seemingly replied.

"Ok, then, I guess we should do what she says," Link said. "Let's go, Talo."

The monkey guided Link and Talo through a safer part of the woods so they wouldn't run into any more monsters of any sort. They were eventually led back to right outside the entrance of the dark cave Link had gone through before.

"Oh, we're back right where we need to be," Link said thankfully. "Thanks, monkey," he said.

"Eep!" the monkey replied, after which it ran back into the path they had taken.

"Well, we should head back. Come on."

"Wait, Link," Talo said, to which Link turned back to him.

    "Hm?" he replied.

"If you hadn't come, Link... Gee, me and that monkey would've gotten eaten, probably," Talo explained. "She's actually a pretty nice gal, that monkey... She tried to protect me, so we got captured together."

"Yes, she does seem nice," Link said. "I guess those monkeys aren't so pesky, after all, are they?"

"No, I guess not," Talo replied. "Um, Link... You're not gonna mention this to my dad, are you? He's always telling me to never, EVER go into the forest, 'cause he says it's dangerous... So you really can't tell him! Really! You have to promise!"

Talo then took off towards the village.

"Talo, wait!" Link yelled after him. Right before he could do anything, though, Rusl walked up to him.

"Link!" he shouted out to him in the distance as he walked closer to Link.

"Oh, hey, Rusl. Um...did you just see what happened?"

"Yes, I saw Talo just now. Colin told me Talo disappeared into the woods and had not returned. I came as soon as I heard. But it looks like you have rescued him already. I apologize. Such a task should not fall to you."

    "Mm..." Link replied.

"Tell me," Rusl said. "Have you noticed how strange this wood seems lately? I feel...uneasy about what may lie in wait. Anyway, Link. Tomorrow is finally the day you will be departing for Hyrule. I think it is a good thing I have given this task to you. Good luck! And return safely! If you are lucky, you may even get to meet Princess Zelda! Ah ha ha!"

    "Haha, yeah..." Link said.
