Link's Awakening was the first of many to come out for the handheld family in the Zelda series. It was also the first Zelda game that didn't have you saving Hyrule from Ganon. In this game you could also change your weapons between the A and B controls.
Link is out sailing on the ocean when out of nowhere a storm appears and sinks his barge. When he finally wakes up he is in a young maidens home with her uncle. He asks for Zelda but she replies and says she is not Zelda, she is Marin and this is Koholint Island! Link finally gets up at the sound of this and gets his sword and shield from the uncle and ventures out onto the Island. Link must find a way off of this Island and can only do so if he wakes up the Windfish egg.
