Oracle of Ages
Bosses
Notice: This page got messed up while we were experimenting with layout changes for Version 5, it is being fixed currently and will be up soon.

The bosses in Oracle of Ages may not be as challenging as the ones found in Oracle of Seasons, but this is because Ages was originally designed to be tougher in the mental portion. Like the rest of the game, these bosses often require you to exploit your brain, and use deduction to figure out how to end there wicked glares and vile laughter.

Boss One: Pumpkin Head
Threat:
The first boss is is a jumbling jack-o-lantern called Pumpkin Head. Start off by Equipping your sword and Power Bracelet. Your goal here is to slash the minion's body until it disappears. Pick up the head using the Power Bracelet to expose a small ghost, repeatedly smash it with the wooden sword until it cowards back into the boss. You can also try to toss the pumpkin at it for twice the damage. Just be careful with this method though, because if you miss he'll be able to join up with his haunted armor rather quickly... simply repeat either until the Halloween hooligan's laughs are no more.

Boss Two: Head Thwomp
Threat:
To defeat the tiki tumble known as Head Thwomp you'll need bombs, the Roc's feather and a bit of luck. Hop onto the floating platforms rotating around the boss. As your circling through the air, equip the bombs and toss one into the top of thwomp's head. It will spin and show you it's weird faces. You want to time your throw so bomb lands inside him just as he turns red, so that the block head will damage itself. Do this four times to defeat the boss. Be sure to make it take damage, or it will summon fireballs and falling rocks as an attack (Which you can avoid by hiding on the middle platform of either tower) After ending it's wrath, grab your much deserved heart container.

Boss Three: Shadow Hag
Threat:
The twisted witch known as Shadow Hag can be easily trumped using the seed shooter. The apparition will start by splitting into four shadows. These will move across the screen and try to home in on Link, so dodge them. The shadows will eventually come together and start spewing vile moths. Slash them with your sword for more hearts. Eventually Shadow Hag will charge at you from behind. Bounce a scent seed off the wall so it rebounds and hits her (If you face her directly she will disappear). Do this five times to vanquish this frightening boss.

Boss Four: Eyesoar
Threat:
Eysoar's winged eyeballs will circle around him and try to harm you. You can hit them when they stop revolving around Eyesoar. After defeating a few of the smaller eyes, Use your switch hook on the exposed retina. Now jab it with your sword. After a little bit of switch hooking and jab-jabbing, you'll bring an end to the rambunctious eyeballs. Now grab your new heart container and escape with the 4th essence.

Boss Five: Smog
Threat:

Smogg is a giant cloud of cozy fluff, which can split into several, smaller clouds of fluff. Your goal is to use the Cane of Somaria to make the clouds collide. When the clouds reunite, slash Smogg with your sword. The puff will continue to attack you relentlessly until you reunite the smaller clouds four times.

Stage 1: Only two clouds here... Make a block appear in the middle of any block cluster. Use the picture to help.

Stage 2: In the far left cluster of blocks, create a block at the top right side. After those two puffs collide, make a block at the bottom left side of the right cluster. Now act fast, just as the small cloud is about to leave the block you just made, make another block appear at the top right side of the middle block cluster so the puff is now traveling around the middle cluster. Proceed to make another block at the bottom left side of the middle cluster and wait until the puffs finally meet up. If you mess up (This phase requires timing) You can step onto the switch at the top left corner of the room, or hit the clouds with your sword to temporarily stop them. If you need help watch the video to the right.

Stage 3: Push the top block that's in the middle left, and the bottom one right. Create a block at the far right side of the left block cluster. Then, in between the middle blocks create another block before the cloud can slip through. Now Keep pounding that Mattress! (heheh, trash talk...)

Stage 4: Make the clouds orbiting the left and right block clusters travel along the room's outer rim by placing a block at the top right and left of the blocks. Place your final block at the southernmost side of the cluster of three diagonal blocks. Slashing smog one more time will finally destroy this cushion.

Boss Six: Octogon
Threat:
The boss of Mermaid's Cave is weird looking creature called Octogon. It will swim around the room attempting to shoot you with projectiles. Wait until the boss exposes it's red side (It's pallid side renders it no harm) and use your seed shooter to pelt it with a scent seed. You can even use your sword but its a bit more risky. When the beast dives under water, follow it and then use the walls to bounce a seed into the monster. Keep doing this until Octogon is defeated. Oh, and if you run out of ammo, just smash the barrels.

Boss Veran: Possessed Nayru
Threat:
With Ralph to frightened, and slow, to do anything, Link must take matters into his own hands (again). The only problem is that direct swordplay would damage Naryu as well. You're going to have to find a way to separate Veran from Naryu. Start off by firing mystery seeds at Naryu to expose Veran's dark shadow. Then, launch your switch hook at it and hit Veran with your sword before she can run back to the safety of the Oracle. Repeat this until Veran has had enough.

Boss Seven: Plasmarine
Threat:
Watch out for Plasmarine's tough tentacles, they'll shock you if you get close enough (The shock can take away a whole six hearts) Instead, keep a distance and wait until the jellyfish fires a dangerous orb of electricity, then, long hook the jumping invertebrate. When you switch places, the projectiles will hit Plasmarine instead! Keep swimming and tricking the boss until the stupid squish is destroyed.

Boss Eight: Ramrock
Threat:

Your final boss battle before Veran is a stony soldier called Ramrock. You will need your sword, bombs, the seed shooter, and the power gloves to defeat him. The ancient combatant has four stages, so don't expect another easy fight.

Stage 1: Ramrock will start off in a fist fight (quite literally). He will launch his fists at you, so turn the tables by hitting them back with your sword, like you would in tennis, or baseball. After sending his fists back three times, Ramrock's method of attack will change.

Stage 2: Ramrock will now switch from punching to pounding. Your goal now is to throw a bomb between his hands just before he closes them. Do this three times to move onto stage 3.

Stage 3: The 3rd stage of Ramrock will test your marksman skills. Your going to want to rebound a seed off the back wall so it hits this minion from behind. (His front will be protected by his hands). Do this 3-4 times to get to the final stage.

Stage 4: Ramrock's fists will now shift into spheres. He will attempt to hit you with these would-be flails by throwing them towards you. When he does, grab the one he doesn't throw with the power gloves and begin pulling it back. Let go and BOOM! Ramrock will be damaged! Keep doing this to complete the 4th stage and finally trump the boss.

Boss Veran: Final
Threat:

Well, You've made it to the final boss. Veran is much harder than your other battles. You'll need some nifty blade work, good wits, and a brave mind to finally bring peace to Labrynna. It's suggested you have a potion and all the item upgrades before you even consider battling Veran.

Stage 1: Veran's first stage is very similar to the possessed Naryu battle. In fact, its identical except for some new attacks. Veran can now make spiders (Or, I think they're spiders) Fall from the ceiling. So, just like with Naryu, peg Verna with your mystery seeds. When her black shadow emerges, switch hook it and slap Verna with your sword before she runs back into Queen Ambie's body. Repeat to move onto the second stage.

Stage 2:Veran's second stage is bit harder. Here, the evil queen will take the form of fairy and will begin flying swiftly across the room, shooting fire balls. Use the Roc's feather to jump away from the attacks. When she gets close enough, release a spin attack (it's more effective than a regular attack, Doi!). Continue doing this to conquer Veran's second stage.

Stage 3: The third and final stage of Veran is by far the hardest bout in the game. In this phase, Veran will reveal her true form as she shifts into different animals and insects. You'll start out fighting her in Turtle form, in which she'll jump wickedly about the room, attempting to crush you. When she finally lands and rests, her jewel shaped head will pop out. Quickly slash it with your sword. Rinse and repeat until she swaps looks.

When Veran enters spider form, she'll try to ram you, pounce on you, and shoot webs at you. Avoid her attacks and stun her using bombs, then attack her with your sword. Keep it up until she switches again.

When she is a Bee, Veran will shoot stingers and buzz across the room. Dodge them with the Roc's feather, and then hit her with your sword. You can also defeat her entourage to get more hearts. Veran will shift through these forms many times before you finally defeat her and free Labrynna from shadows!
