Oracle of Ages has some pretty unique items that are required to get through dungeons, defeat bosses, brave canyons, and clear chasms. Below is a list of all the items in the game, (Aside from the ones encountered while tackling the trading quest) as well as how acquire get some of them.
The very first item you aquire is the Wooden Sword. After pushing the blackish block and watching
a cutscene, Impa will give it to you, sending you off on your quest to defeat Veran and rescue Nayru. The only issue is that this weapon is basically
a twig! Meaning it is the weakest sword in the game.
Once you complete Labrynna's long, tiring, drawn out trading quest you can take the Broken Sword
to Patch at the top of Restoration Wall. (Yes... he is the one that fixed your Tuni Nut). The Noble sword is
far superior to its predecester. It grants you the power to shoot beams and break barrells, and is twice as
strong as that little branch you were using earlier. See our Trading Sequence Guide for more information.
The classic blade found in most Zelda games makes its appearence in The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages! However, you can only fetch your
Master Sword while playing a secret or linked file. The Master Sword is almost identical to the Noble Sword, the
only difference being that it is the only weapon that can harm Ganon. Without it, you can't scratch him.
Another Password/Linked extravaganza; The Biggoron Sword is the strongest
weapon in the game. It can easily smash barrells and kill most enemies in one hit. The biggoron sword also has a larger
range do to the fact it is two handed. However there are downsides to this onslaught of power. For one thing, it can't shoot
beams, and, because it's two handed, it takes up both the A and the B buttons, making it hard to use against bosses.
Not everything is free in life, and neither is the Wooden Shield. Once you gain your Wooden Sword,
pay a visit to the Lynna village shop (Present). You'll be able to purchase the shield for a mere 30 ruppees.
This piece of plywood is the weakest shield in the game; its main downside being the fact it's so small, but it
works for now right?
The iron shield is bigger and bolder than its brother. It gives you wider defense and can protect
you from more dangerous projectiles, however you'll need the mermaid suit to get it. Swim to the western side of
Cresent Island. Left of where moonlit groto can be found in the past, there is a small encloser of blue, circle like barriers. Swim in between them. When you get to
the end, there will be another barrier blocking your goal, so dive, and pop back out on the other side. Enter the cave and talk to the Tokay to get the iron shield. He says he's been polishing it for a while, so its really shiny.
The Mirror shield was also given a standing ovation in Zelda: Oracle of Ages. However, this time it is not gotten from a dungeon, but through a password or linked file.
If you completed Oracle of seasons, you had a chance to get your hands on this bueaty via exchanging passwords with a somarian by the mystery seed tree in rolling ridge.
Just note the fact that, though it is marked as level three, it is no different than your iron shield. It has the same defense capabilities and is not needed to defeat Ganon. It also can't be purchased at Lynna Shop after having it devoured by like-likes, so be careful!
The seed satchel is what you use to hold the many different types of seeds found on specific trees
throughout Labrynna. with it, you can light torches, find hints on where to go and what to do, harm enemies, dash
faster than before, and warp, all by just selecting the right seed. You earn your seed satchel in the beginning of the game.
After rescuing the Maku Tree in the past from some pesky moblins, leave the area and step in the blue portal to get back
to the present. Talk to The Maku Tree again, and she will give you the Seed Satchel. (As well as remind you that you promised to marry
her... Shudder)
The seed satchel has one main flaw: it's range is severely limited. At certain points in the game, you'll need
the sharp gun known as the seed shooter to take out enemies and light torches from afar. You find this item in the
third dungeon, and from there on you'll need it to best several bosses including Ramrock, Octogon, Shadow Hag, and the vile
Veran herself. This marksman's tool is also required to complete most dungeons, and gain several items. So stand steady,
aim, and FIRE!
Some rooms are hidden by weakened, cracked walls that can easily be blown to smitherenes via the bombs! You can
get these explosives shortly before Level 2: Winged Cavern. After geting Mystery seeds and retracing your steps some,
you will be stopped by one of Queen Ambies palace guards. He will tell you that "her highness" is increddibly fond of mystery
seeds. After being forced into the gorgeous palace, Queen Ambie will thank you with these fun explosives. Bombs, aside from aquanting
you in dungeons, help you acquire rings, heart pieces, and more. These BOOM orbs also help you defeat enemies, especially Pols
Voice. They even help you destroy the final boss, Veran.
Stationary explosives are fine, but what if you could crossbreed a mouse with TNT? Thats in essence what a bomchu is;
a mobile explosive that can be used to blast open an entryway at long distance. You, sadly, can only get your hands on this
weapon via a linked or secret file. Bombchus are especailly useful for heavily armored foes; just be sure to time your shot
and aim correctly. To learn how to aquire these ratty rodents, see our Secrets Guide. (Which isn't up yet)
The shovel is, well... A shovel! It allows you to unearth large piles of dirt and dig up recovery hearts and ruppees.
It is one of your earliest obtainable tools and is very helpful in getting certain items such as Rickey's gloves. The shovel is also
needed in beating subterror, the miniboss of L3, Moonlit Grotto.
What good is a pet if you can't play with it when you want? The Strange Flute solves that problem easily. It
acts as call for either Rickey, Moosh, or Dimitri. These animals are needed throughout the game due to the fact they each
come with a set of special skills. Be sure to note though, that you can only have one of these freinds. The pet that you get
is determined by how you go about getting this intstrument. See our Flute Guide to help you pick out your
pet!

The Harp of Ages is obviously important, seeing that it's what the game was named after. It allows you to open
portals and travel between the past and the present. You aquire this item shortly after the first dungeon. You'll be
strumming it's strings strenuously, because Labrynna's dungeons lie in seperate time periods. Below are the different tunes for the harp.
:: Tune of Echoes: The Tune of Echoes is the first song you learn to play on the harp. You learn it imediatly after gettign the
intstrument. It is used for activating dormant time portals, which, unfortunately, helps you very little, because these warps are not located
everywhere in Labrynna. Still, it is helpful!
:: Tune of Currents: Well, if you are worried about getting stuck 400 years before you were born, then the Tune of Currents is
a must have! This song allows you to freely move from past to present (NOT present to past) without having to activate a portal.
You learn these notes on your journey to restoration wall to repair the Tuni Nut. This song also leaves a return warp if
you decide you need to go back to the past.
:: Tune of Ages: The Tune of Ages is the best tune in the game. It allows you to travel from present to past, and past to
present! It is incredibly useful throughout the game and is needed to get to the seventh and eighth dungeons. You learn
this song after you beat possesed Nayru, right after the sixth dungeon.

Picture this: you're staring jealously at an enemy across a deep void while he's walking around nonchalantly where you need to
be... If only there was some ways to switch places with him... Luckily there is! the Switch hook is very much like the
hookshot in previous Zelda installments, however, instead of grappling onto an object and pulling you over to it, it allows you to magically
switch places with certain rocks, barrells and enemies throughout the game. It is one of your more useful tools, and is used in several
dungeons, including Hero's Cave. There is also an upgrade of the switch hook, known as the Long Switch.
The long hook is aquired in Jabu Jabu's belly, and is basically a switch hook with longer range. You use
it to aquire certain rings and other treasures. I'm not going in to detail on this one, because it is practically identical to your old,
shorter switch hook.
This pink tool is used to create a block out of the middle of nowhere! By simply pressing the button it's
set on, it will magically make a block appear in front of you. This is helpful because there are many areas in the game in
which it is reqired to have two or more bodies around to push a few switches down. The Cane of Somaria is fetched in the place called
Crown Dungeon. The Cane of Somaria is extremley useful, and is needed to end Smog's wrath, and brave most dungeons.
The Roc's is a nifty item that allows you to jump. It makes your body lighter and allows you to easily
jump over small holes and crevices. Obtained in the second dungeon, this nimble treasure is a must have. Aside from helping you get
through dungeons, it also is a huge help in defeating bosses. With it, you can easily dodge enemy attacks. This feather is also used in
getting rings, heart pieces, and other items.
In the Legend of Zelda, Oracle of Ages, Link doesn't need the use of a excessive exercise to get stronger.
All he needs is a small piece of jewlery known as the Power Bracelet! The Power Bracelet allows Link to easily lift up
and throw barrels and other special obstacles. With it equiped, he grows much stronger. The power bracelet is needed to
get through every dungeon, aquire a lot of rings, capture pieces of hearts, and more.
You, sadly, cannot swim without the help of the Zora flippers. These fins enable you to wade your way
through rivers, and are fetched on the road to Cresent island. Simply talk to Chevel in the past, and then journey to the
graveyard in the present. There, you will temporally enlist the help of Moosh. Fly him over the holes at the top left
quadrent of the cemetary, and push the grave left. Travel down throught the passage to find this aquatic accesory.
Note the fact that you cannot swim in the ocean with the flippers.
The Mermaid Suit is the L2 version of the Zora's Flippers, and is aquired in the sixth dungeon: Mermaid's
Cave (Appropriatly named). The difference between this item and the fins you had earlier is the fact that you can now
dive down deeper to a whole new wattery world. This Suit also enables you to swim in the ocean's deeper waters, and
allows you to wiggle faster through currents. The mermaid suit is another useful item, and is used in acquiring
many rings. It is also needed for Jabu Jabu's belly, Ancient Tomb, and to grasp victory over a few bosses.
The Ring box is basically what you carry all your rings in. It is probably the easiest item to obtain, as all
you have to do is talk to Vasu, the jewler. The first ring box can only carry one ring, but if you get all the upgrades,
you'll be able to carry up to five! To learn how to expand your ring box, see our items upgrade section.
Rings are found all throughout Labrynna, and depending on the type, can hinder or help you. When you first find
a ring, it will do nothing, and will stand on your secondary items screen, dormant and useless. You need to appraise it at Vasu's
Jewlers in Lynna city. There are 64 rings possible to collect in this game, and each one is scattered throughout dungeons, caves
and so on. Some, like the Armor ring (L3) are incredibly hard to aquire, and require you to complete hard, challenging sidequests.
While others are merely handed to you! See our Rings Section on how to collect all the rings.
To get to the first dungeon and kick off your quest, you'll have to find the Graveyard Key. From the entrance
of the graveyard, head right, down, left, down and right two screens. Burn the top bush here to reveal a staircase. Light the two
torches to get the Graveyard key. Now you can clear the gate blocking the eastern portion of the cemmetary.
When you first arrive at Symmetry Village (Present), it will be in ruins. Lava and falling debri will
be shaking this small town. That's because a specific guardian has been broken. After journeying to the past and accepting the
quest from the twins in the main, center house, visit one of the brothers in the northern part of the village. They'll give you the broken tuni nut.
When you have patch Succesfully repair it, it will become a fixed Tuni Nut.
The Tuni nut is needed in acessing the 4th lava filled dungeon. You gain it by taking the Broken Tuni Nut to
Patch, at the top of restoration wall. When you succesfully climb the vines and arrive there, talk to Patch. He'll tell
you that you can "attempt" to fix the tuni nut by trying to brave his "Ceremony" In this destructive ritual you need to push all the hard hat beetles into the
pits at the corner of the room. However, if the cart slips onto the track where your tuni nut is, you fail.
You can stand on the switch to ensure this does not happen. Once you beat Patch at his own game, the tuni nut is yours!
To get to the final boss of the final dungeon, you need to fetch certain tablets. These tablets will later
be placed on the alter of the tomb to reveal a staircase to the Boss door. There are four Stone tablets in Level 8,
so start searching!
Instead of Triforce Shards, Fused Shadows, or instruments of the sirens, You'll be seeking Essences of Time. These Essences are gotten once
you triumph a dungeons boss. Without the eight essences, you will not be able to enter Veran's castle.
Once you couragessly rescue all the essences, travel to the Maku tree and she will give you her Maku seed. It
does nothing other then unite all eight essences. You are not able to battle Veran without this item.
The third dungeon is on Crecent island, which you will not be able to get too unless you have
a raft of some sort. However, to construct one, you need a rope that cannot decay in water. After visiting Cheval's grave and getting Zora's Flippers,
swim left to the top area of the tomb. If you give this special rope to Rafton, he will begin building your raft. However, without the island chart, Rafton
won't finish working on your raft...
After talking to Rafton and having him agree to build your raft, journey to the prairie boarding present day
Lynna village to find the mopey marsupial known as Ricky. (By the graveyard) Ricky has lost his gloves and needs help. Journey to the beach
south of the Ember tree and dig up the mounds of earth at the west part of the screen to find Ricky's Glove. If you take them
back to Ricky he will agree to help you, so hop in his pouch!
Once you give Rickey his boxing gloves, ride him to the southwest exit of the Lynna Vilage praire. Tornado punch the
grass and hop over the holes and up the cliffs to find my least favorite video game character of all time: Tingle! Slash his
balloon to pop it and start the torturous talk with him. He will "try" to befriend you and give you the island chart. The
island chart does nothing in the game, aside from silently telling Rafton to "finish up!"
Once you defeat the Great moblin in his purple palace, you'll aquire a bomb flower. Take it to the Gorons, who are
attempting to rescue the Great Goron Elder (Past). Upon saving him, The Great Goron Elder will reward you with the Crown key.
This key is essential in getting to Level 5, Crown Dungeon.
In order to free the Goron Elder, you will need the bomb flower. The only issue is that a selfish beast called
Great Moblin has taken all of these explosives. Journey to his castle in the present and use pegasus seeds to swiftly
run across his disappearing floor. Go down the stairs and throught he door to battle with this fiend. (Throw the
bombs he throws at you back at him using power bracelts). After you blow him up, you'll obtain the bomb flower!
A keyhole means you need a key. The Old mermaid key is an itteration of it's more modern brother and is
needed to access Mermaid's Cave. Give Goronade to the tired, worn out Goron running the Big Bang game. It
will get him energized, and he will give you one free game in return. Use your Roc's Feather to jump away from the falling
bombs. Pegasus seeds also help. After a victory, he will give you the Old Mermaid Key.
To get to the present day Mermaid's Cave, which differs in look from it's older brother, you'll need the
letter of introduction. After giving the Goron in the cave at the middle, left area of rolling ridge, east, (Past) Lava juice,
take this piece of paper to the Graceful Goron. (the one who runs the Goron dancing mini game) in the past. Succesfully
win the minigame to unlock the second Mermaid's Key.
This piece of parchment is needed to get the Mermaid's Key. Start off by acquiring Lava Juice (score
over 100 points in the goron target minigame). Take it to a cave that lies in the middle, left part of east Rolling Ridge.
Trade the Goron you find there this bold beverage to get this letter.
Go to the Goron Cart mini game in the present. Lift the rock outside the entrance to reveal a hidden portal. Now play your Tune
of Echoes to warp to the past. Enter the cave to find another fun minigame! (Or "annoying" minigame, depending on your point of view...) This is bassically a takeoff of the target
game in Lynna village, just relocated. If you're able to rack up a score 100 points or more you will gain Lava Juice.
After picking up the Goron vase, take it to the Goron dance hall in the past. Generously give the vase to the Goron
guarding the staircase, and he will reward you with Goronade. Like the other items you find on Rolling Ridge, east, this energy
drink helps you aquire both Mermaid Keys.
After stunning the Gorons in the target minigame with your sharpshooting skills and gaining the Rock Brisket,
pay a visit to the Goron guarding the staircase in the present day dance hall. If you end his ravenous hunger with the Rock Brisket, he
will thank you, giving you his prized piece of pottery, the Goron Vase.
If you fire your way through the Goron cart minigame once, you will gain a tasty piece of food called the
Rock Brisket. This nutritous boulder can be exchanged with the Goron guarding the stairs of present day dance hall for
the Goron vase.
The first item in the pain staking trading quest for the Mermaid's Key is the brother emblem. Simply complete
the Goron dancing minigame once in either past or present to earn it. You can now go up the set stairs the Goron's are blocking
in the dance hall. They now move for you because they think you're a "Brother"!
The Book of Seals is needed to solve the hidden floor puzzle and get fairy powder. Traverse your way to
the Library in the past. Open it using the library key you got from King Zora. Warp back to the present and go inside.
Journey up one screen and talk to an older gentleman to gain this brainy book.
Teleport to the past version of the library and go inside. Walk up one screen and place your Book of Seals on
the pedistal. It will tell you a set of directions, and if you follow them, you will stay safely on the floating path that leads
to the next pedistal. Placing the book on each pedistal will open a new path, and make the old path dissapear. If you succesfully
make it without tumbling into oblivion, an old-er man will award you with fairy powder! This magical substance is used to clean the polluted seas.
After you survive Jabu Jabu's belly, a Zora will outside will gladly thank you for saving their king, cleaning
their seas, and risking your life to save Labrynna. He will graciously give you the Zora scale, which can be traded for
the Tokay eyeball later on.
The Tokay eyeball is needed to get to the final dungeon. Show the Zora guarding a small alcove of coral your
Zora scale (In the Past), and he will move for you. Swim into the area he was blocking and resurface. If you paddle your
way north to a mobile pirate ship, you can trade your scale with the captain. The Tokay Eyeball is needed to open a dangerous
passage leading to another, more dangerous maze. If you brave both areas, you can enter your last mind boggling peril, Ancient Tomb.
In Labrynna, they don't use Dollars, Euros, Pounds, or Pacos. No, in Labrynna, the only currency they use is rupees.
Rupees are a required item in the game. You need them to by the shield, an upgraded ring box, a heart piece and lots more. They can be found
anywhere in Labrynna. Enemies might drop them, barrells might cover them, and grass might hide them. You can even dig them up with the
shovel!
There are giant ornaments of love scattered throughout Labrynna. Some are in secret areas, while others are
in plain sight! Collecting four of these treasures will grant you a brand new heart container! See our Heart Pieces Guide
for information on how to get them.
