Epona Side-Quest

Travelling across Hyrule can be a pain on foot. Once you become an adult, this is the perfect time to get Epona. Be sure you learned Epona's Song as a kid though. If you didn't, go beat the Forest Temple, go back to the Temple of Time and turn back into a kid, go back to Lon Lon Ranch and learn the song.

How To Get Epona

As an adult, go to Lon Lon Ranch and you'll notice that Ingo has taken over the ranch. Take part in this challenge which costs 10 Rupees. Play Epona's Song to use Epona for the challenge and hop over the two fences a couple of times and then talk to Ingo. If he won't offer you another challenge then do the first challenge again for another 10 Rupees.

Racing Tips

Once the race begins don't use all of your carrots, but use enough to get ahead of Ingo. Make sure you are on the inside of the fence, that way if Ingo gets in front you can use Epona to slow him down by pushing your horse against his and then pull ahead of him. Once your a little ways from him let your carrots load up so you can use them all at the end of the race. You need to finish strong, so this is a good way of doing it. The next race, Ingo will be more agressive, but its basically the same rules as before. Just use the same tips from above, but don't get a big head, otherwise you might get a ahead of yourself.

How To Get Out Of The Ranch

If you finish the first challenge, you can take part in another challenge which is a race against Ingo. You will have to race him twice for the horse. If you lose, you'll have to pay him 50 Rupees. Once you win, he will trap you in the ranch. To get out, simply jump over a wooden fence leading to Hyrule Field and you will have your very own quick way of transportation.
